Adventure update...
Posted on 04 February 2007 by Clive Gott
I decided to keep a journal of my training for Aconcagua and, for anyone who might be interested in how someone like me prepares to climb one of the highest peaks in the world, I am adding the entries to another section of this blog entitled Mt. Aconcagua Training Journal.

Hello Clive, I have been away for a while pursuing happiness (getting married among other things. At a career transition at the moment so thought I would visit your site for some inspiration, and as usual I have found it -Fantastic!
Will be seeing you on the 22nd February at Lancashire County Cricket Ground, Really, really looking forward to it.
If I don't get chance to speak to you on the night, very best wishes for your travels and your task, be safe. Moira Locke (formerly Dean RAC)
Clive,
Adrian (JS) and I are going to walk up Pen-Y-Gent on Tuesday 27/02/07 and will be at the top by mid morning - thinking of you reaching the summit of Aconcagua. Then we'll head on down for a "Full English" at the Cafe in Horton-In-Rib.
Hope all goes well for you.
David
Clive,
I'm really pleased that for once I can give something back to you in return for the inspiration you have been to me since I attended one of your workshops in 2000 at York Technical College. I'll be thinking of you climbing up the last metres of Aconcagua on 27th Feb, as I cycle from York to Scarborough. When I get to Scarborough I'll dip my toes in the North Sea, then go for a bacon buttie and imagine you on top of your mountain.
All the very best, Fiona
Clive,
All power to you mate, I look forward to hearing what is was like at the top! Might even tempt me to break my promise to never go higher than Kili.
I'll be working on 27th Feb, however before I jump in the car I shall go for a run. As you know I was previously not a runner yet I have entered the Dublin Marathon in October. Within my training their are two things I have not done, so far. Run constantly for more than 30 minutes. On 27th I'll do 40.
Oh yeah, the other is run a marathon distance, that can wait till October!
Best wishes & don't forget your long-johns!
Hi Clive
Time for me to give something back in return for all the support and inspiration that you have given Young Enterprise students and myself over the last couple of years.
For the 27th, I did consider waking before dawn, negotiating steep slopes and reaching the summit of a mountain, but that's your adventure so I couldn't copy could I?? (that's my reasoning anyway!!!). So instead my mini-adventure involves reaching the driving range for the first time and hitting some golf balls. I'm very excited.
Wishing you an amazing adventure. Look after yourself up there!
Ash

Clive,
I sincerely hope you are well, no doubt as prepared physically and mentally as you need to be for your rapidly approaching challenge?
My girlfriend (Emma) and I have decided to take part in your International Adventure Day - how could I not eh? You've given me some marvellous help and encouragement in the past so now its time for me to do the same for you!
As you reach the peak of Mount Aconcagua, Emma and I will be climbing a completely vertical ice wall. OK, it's somewhat smaller at only 8 metres, but it's a -12 degrees, completely vertical wall of ice. Neither of us have done this before so that is our adventure and as we reach the top of the ice wall we'll be rooting for you to reach the top of Aconcagua!
Go well Clive buddy and enjoy the experience. I'll look forward to seeing you on your return!
Dave & Emma
