Heading for Camp Canada...

Posted on 20 February 2007 by Clive Gott

The walking up and down isn't so much a frustration as confidence building. We climbed 700 very hard metres today to Camp Canada. It took 3 1/2 hours to get up there and then I'm afraid (with three of us and one of our lady guides) testoterone took over and it took us 56 minutes to get back! It was an absolute blast.

Tomorrow (Weds) is a rest day and then we go to Camp Canada to stay there. After reaching Camp Canada we have another rest day before going to Nido and then the next one before we hope the weather breaks and we can hit the summit.

I passed the medical with flying colours. Blood pressure 140 over 70 - which is great for up here. My resting pulse is 69 and saturation is 89 so I guess I´m doing ok for an old boy, eh?!

Hiya mate. Glad it's going well. Your challenges are akin to me supporting Bradford City and my son being a Wigan Athletic fan! However you're in charge of your own destiny whilst my son and I are totally dependant on the performance of eleven players.

Really looking forward to hearing about your adventure and if WBradforsd and Wigan avoid relegation I'll let you know about that as well.

Enjoy the experience and take care pal.

Gotty "blasting" it - surely not ! Take it steady, big fellow, 'cos he stumbles that runs too fast...think that was my quote for Day 2 of the MdS. Thinking of you up there, as we prepare for our step aerobic challenge on the 27th (that's me and half a dozen lycra-clad lovelies - how's That for stepping out of my comfort zone!?). All thes very best. Rich

Hi Clive
God I'm so jealous! I considered doing this one too and wish I'd put my name forward now. Bet it's a completely different experience to Kili - would love to hear all about it and VERY well done for doing this (and all your other challenges)!
I do have my own challenge coming up but a more local one - setting up in business (finally).
