4300 metres - and rising!
Posted on 19 February 2007 by Clive Gott
How about this then...I am 4300 metres above sea level in the middle of the Andes and you STILL can't get away from me!
I just wanted to say 'hello' and 'I'm OK'. I'm having fun - in a strange sort of way - but at the same time suffering a lot of discomfort. I guess that's what I knew I was letting myself in for though. I am experiencing a lot of new things and a lot of new emotions as well. I have NEVER experienced cold like this before.
Yesterday was our hardest day so far. We walked for 11 miles in 9 hours and climbed 1000 metres in the last 3 miles. The group split into 3 with me leading the first group for the whole day. I wasn't any stronger, it is just easier for me to be behind the guide and to literally 'follow in his footsteps'...
