Hi Clive, Love the idea. I saw you speak (and you made me laugh) at the WiRE Event in Skipton last October.
I started my business in September and have been busy researching, designing, refining and finding manufacturers for my products. I'm nearly there and now need to SELL. Eek! Thinking about doing a sales pitch makes my stomach turn but I really want to get my first customer out of the way to prove that there's a market for my products.
Sooo....well and truly out of my comfort zone I have set 27/2/7 as the day I will make my first sales call. I'm going to Harrogate to a trade show that day anyway so will kill 2 birds with one stone (I HOPE!).
Thanks for giving me the push I needed. Best of luck with Acongagua. It will be breathtakingly beautiful up there!
Hi Nerys - positive vibes 'charged and waiting to go' for you on 27:2:7! They say the first one is both the toughest and the most memorable - I look forward to reading all about your first sale on the 28th! YOU GO, GIRL!
Clive recently agreed to push my up Mount Aconagua in my wheelchair, but was concerned as to whether he could hold on to me on the way down! So I'll be delighted to support on 27:2:7 in another way.
I actually have an enforced adventure that day which puts me outside my comfort zone. As much as I would prefer businesses to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act, many try to work outside the law. Individual disabled people must take legal action if they feel they have been discriminated against. I have been unable to amicably resolve an issue from last year, so my day in court is 27:2:7.
For legal reasons, I cannot go into details at this stage, but when I win, it will make a significant difference to many disabled people, which I will go into more detail about on 28:2:7.
I look forward to adventuring with you later in the year, mate (I've got an idea to talk to you about).
I'll be following your mountain adventure closely. Good Luck.
Steve
Hi Nerys and Steve.
You two have underlined what today is all about. It was not my intention for you to climb my mountain on 2727 but to climb your own mountain.
Nerys
I still recall the first day I entered into the sales arena, I was terrified and if the truth were told I still am in a way. My only fear then though is the same one that is still with me...the fear of hearing "no". Now I treat it as one step nearer to my next yes Make one call Nerys you will be surprised how many you are motivated to make after the first.
Steve
It is people lime you who change the world my friend. My friend Russ once told me that the world has enough people who tell us what should be done and not enough who actually do it. We look forward to your victory statement Steve.
Clive
while you're freezing your nuts off on Aconcagua, I'll be hot-stepping for one hour in a centrally heated office, surrounded by lycra-clad colleagues (moslty female, I hasten to add). We've decided to work out for one hour to raise funds for SCOPE. Not much of a challenge, but our way of supporting you as you make those last few steps to the summit! Go Gotty!
Fantastic stuff Clive.
On summit day, 27th February, I present an acquisition plan for a new Subsidiary to the full Board, for the first time.
Hi Peter
An acquisition...a mountian..they are both the ame if you are doing them for the first time mate.
Rich
This I ABSOLUTELY MUST see photographic evidence of. In fact we should all see the pictures.
Thanks to you both for your support
Hi Clive when you get to the top of your mountain i will have legs like jelly on top of a horse i only hope the horse does not realise!
Clive,
Bring home a wonderful story for us all to enjoy. I am really looking forward to hearing all about the adventures of Aconcagua !
I will be working in London on 2727 with my friend Jacqui and we have decided that we want to give something back, make people smile and have a bit of fun ourselves at the same time.
We are going to anonomously donate 27 acts of kindness that day. The challenge is we cannot get rumbled !
So if anyone reading this is sat in a cafe in Wimbledon on 27th February 2007 and you get up to pay for your latte and it was already taken care of....
Or maybe you run down to feed the meter on your car and there is an extra hour on there....
We have devised 27 different things to make a small difference to someones day... or at the very least leave them happily bewildered ! I will report back on the 28th !!!!
HAVE A GREAT ADVENTURE ! JJ
Hi Chris and JJ
Chris will you be on top of a horse and have legs like jelly or will your legs be like a jelly on top of a horse. Either way I think we need to see pictures of you too mate.
JJ
What a fantastic idea. If I get to the top of my mountain and someone has already signed my name in the book that is up there though I will be a little peeved. I'm going to do this one myself on my birthday. I will do 11 random acts of kindness on 11-08-07
I look forwmard to hearing about it. By the way, pay for the car behind you in a toll tunnel or bridge it is sooooooo funny.
Praying for you that you reach your summit in good heart and good shape. As well as making you a better and different man, this will be for the benefit of everyone you touch when you come back down.
On Tues 27, I'm going to fast for the day and pray for everyone doing their own adventures. And I shall climb, in one day, the one foot mountain of research and reading sitting in my office!
God bless,
Rob.
Clive
We did it - one hour of non-stop aerobic stepping in an overheated office. Seven of us managed to complete just short of 17000 steps in that time, and will have raised several hundred quid for SCOPE in the process. As the lactic acid built up towards the end, I reminded myself that you're way beyond your comfort zone up there on Aconcagua. Good on you, mate!
My adventure on 27/2/7 was a great success. My day in court was victorious.
In case there is an appeal, I still cannot go into detail, but I am delighted that my first ever venture of this kind beyond my comfort zone was successful.
Steve

Early bird catches the worm!
I am sooooo excited about this event, Clivey, and can't wait to hear all the details of your adventure when you get home. There will be oodles of warm fuzzies along with whoops of encouragement in the ether for you throughout your journey so when you need a bit of either (or both!), just reach into the sky and grab some :)
Like you, my adventure will be taking me waaay out of my comfort zone. It's not quite the physical challenge you are facing but, for me, it is a HUGE challenge. I am not a big fan of comedy (and even less of a fan of Westerns) and find it very challenging to just sit in front of a television for more than a few minutes unless I'm watching something that really excites the 'leetle grey cells' BUT, at some point during 27:2:7, I will plonk myself down and watch, from beginning to end, 'Blazing Saddles' - it's only taken 2 and a half years! Paul has the DVD all ready and waiting!
So, if at any time during your adventure to the summit of Aconcagua, you feel downhearted, tired, tearful or depressed, just close your eyes and think of me and of how things could be so much worse...then open your eyes and laugh (cos you know the picture you'll have in your head will be hilarious!) and GO FOR GOLD!
I'll be right on your tail, buddy - albeit in spirit ;)
